OF COURSE I PAWRTICIPATE IN NATIONAL PUPPY DAY! Like you, I was shocked to learn this isn't every day, but it turns out there's a specific day for all things puppy. For me, that means extra time set aside for my furry friend, and making sure we can do things she likes. Since the weather has been pawsitively amazing here, I know we'll be hitting the dog park and enjoying the great outdoors.
One thing I find myself doing a lot, with people and with my dog, is imaging things from their point of view. Some people might find that strange for a pet, but I think it's important to consider the way the world works for our furry family members. I make sure to give her boundaries, routine, and love, so that her world makes sense to her as much as possible. I honestly have one of the sweetest dogs - I think in part to great socialization and training from a young age - and her biggest life aspirations seem to be spending time with people and playing with toys. Two of my dog's favorite phrases are surely "dog park" and "go on the deck," preceded only by "treat." We will definitely do all those things, and I know she'll be extra happy, as she deserves. In fact, I would go so far as to say that knowing my dog is happy, contributes to my own happiness as well, and I'd like to believe the reverse is true for her.
Follow her on social media if you need more puppy cuteness in your life (you do), and let me know what fun you and your pup get up to today! If you didn't know, lhasa apso's change color as they age, so looking back on her puppy pics really shows all the different colored hair we've both had!

Happy National Puppy Day!!!
Well, what is there to say on National Dog Day except, if you don't love dogs, or at least MY dog, maybe you need to take a good, hard look at your life. I kid, and I might sound like a crazy dog person, but the funny thing is, I actually do not agree with many over zealous dog owners. Don't get me wrong, all the dog lovers in the world are still better than those heartless people who abuse dogs for monetary gain or sheer cruelty, but I think to be a truly responsible pet owner it takes more than love.
What do I mean by that? Dogs deserve a good life. Don't get a dog if you just think they're cute but your busy schedule doesn't allow you to give it sufficient time. A dog is not a prop in your life; a dog is not an accessory, because it's fluffy, or your relationship got boring. Dogs shouldn't be so spoiled that they can't function in the world around humans or other dogs, and your dog is not exempt from being trained good behavior.
Much like the belief that if you can't afford to tip, don't go out to eat, if you can't afford to give you dog the time and things it needs, don't get a dog.
My dog is spoiled with love, receives ample attention, high-quality nutrition, and safe toys. She gets regular vet visits, wonderful grooming, and is socialized.
On a lighter note, having my dog has brought incredible joy to my life. As dog lovers and owners know, the love of a dog is truly a blessing. My fluffy nugget is the friendliest dog I have ever met. If you've met her, you know her tail wags and happy disposition are a staple in the Isabelle box set. I worked really hard with her early on to get her socialized to as much as possible, and in the end, I created a furry monster. She brings joy to everyone she meets, and I feel lucky every day to have her.
I decided to open this tab after some overwhelming feedback, and I'll be posting more on pet ownership and its struggles and triumphs.
I hope everyone has a PAWESOME day celebrating the four-legged furbabes in their life. If you don't have a dog to celebrate, feel free to send extra love to Izzy today!
Here are some Izzy dog facts:
1) Her full name is Isabelle Irene
2) She's a lhasa apso - think a big, stubborn shih tzu
3) Her tongue is too big for her mouth and she makes silly faces on the reg.
4) She loves to play hide and seek
5) She can't catch things at all and has extreme dog fail moments when she tries
6) SHE HAS AN INSTA @_isabelle.irene_
